Junior Technical Superintendent – General Cargo

Location: Hamburg, Germany
Salary: €65,000 – €80,000 per year (depending on experience)

The Opportunity

A well-established and sustainability-oriented ship management company is looking for a Junior Technical Superintendent to join its team in Hamburg. With a growing general cargo fleet, this is an excellent opportunity for a marine engineer or seafarer aiming to transition ashore and develop a long-term career in technical management.

Responsibilities

• Support the technical management of general cargo vessels

• Monitor vessel performance, maintenance schedules, and technical conditions

• Assist in planning and execution of dry dockings, repairs, and inspections

• Ensure compliance with ISM Code, flag state, class, and company standards

• Contribute to budget tracking and technical reporting

• Coordinate with vessel crews, suppliers, and classification societies

• Maintain accurate documentation and system records

• Participate in onboard visits and technical audits (occasional travel required)

Candidate Profile

• Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related technical field

• Seagoing experience as a 2nd or 3rd Engineer, ideally on general cargo or multipurpose vessels

• Prior exposure to shore-based ship management or internships is a plus

• Familiarity with PMS systems and maritime regulations

• Fluent in English; German language skills are an advantage

• EU citizenship or existing right to work in Germany
