Cloud Engineer – Freelance – Zurich

Location: Zurich

Availability: Full-time

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 6 months + possible extension

Our client, a global financial services firm, is seeking a hands-on Cloud Engineer to support their finance data & analytics transition to Microsoft Azure. You’ll work across infrastructure, observability, and automation in a small, agile team driving modern cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deploy Azure infrastructure using Terraform
• Manage Kubernetes clusters and Azure subscriptions
• Improve system observability and troubleshoot performance (e.g. Databricks)
• Support third-party SaaS apps (e.g. Tagetik)
• Collaborate on architecture and Infrastructure as Code
• Maintain clean, up-to-date documentation
• Contribute to automation and DevOps improvements
• Provide 3rd-level support during critical incidents

Requirements:

• Proven experience in Microsoft Azure and Terraform
• Software engineering background (Python or Java preferred)
• Scripting skills (PowerShell/Bash), Git knowledge
• Familiar with networking, security, RDBMS, Kubernetes
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Fluent in English
