Computer Vision & Machine Learning Engineer – Autonomous Defense Systems
About the Company:
A fast-growing Series A defense technology startup is building next-generation autonomous systems designed to neutralize drone and aerial threats with speed and precision. Founded by seasoned engineers with a strong track record in robotics and mission-critical software, the team is tackling high-impact technical challenges at the intersection of computer vision, machine learning, and real-time control systems.
This is a rare opportunity to join a company that combines a clear national security mission with cutting-edge technical work, backed by recent Series A funding and successful founder exits in the defense and robotics space.
What You’ll Do:
-
Design and optimize computer vision algorithms for real-time drone detection, tracking, and classification.
-
Build and deploy machine learning models tailored for embedded or resource-constrained environments.
-
Collaborate with hardware and systems engineers to tightly integrate vision capabilities into an autonomous turret platform.
-
Rigorously test and validate models across a wide range of operational conditions.
-
Support the maturation of the system from prototype to deployable military-grade hardware, including adaptations for different use cases and weapon platforms.
What We’re Looking For:
-
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
-
4-7 years of experience building real-time or robotics-focused computer vision systems.
-
Strong programming skills in Python and C++, with experience in ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar.
-
Experience integrating CV/ML algorithms into embedded or edge-compute systems.
-
Familiarity with sensors like cameras, LIDAR, or RADAR and their use in autonomous or robotic platforms.
-
Passion for solving hard technical problems and working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus Points For:
-
Prior experience in defense, aerospace, or other safety-critical domains.
-
Knowledge of control systems or real-time targeting applications.
-
Experience working on hardened or production-grade autonomous systems.
What’s Offered:
-
Competitive salary
-
Equity in a Series A startup
-
Full health, dental, and vision benefits
-
Paid time off and flexible work environment
-
Direct impact on a product with real-world defense applications
