About the role

My client is looking for a Hydraulic Engineering Specialist to join their team. The position is 60-100% and based in Bern.

The position involves planning, designing, and managing projects related to water resources and the environment. This includes projects such as flood protection, revitalization, erosion control, and natural hazard mitigation. The engineer will also be responsible for preparing technical reports, conducting environmental impact assessments, and liaising with stakeholders.

About You

• You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources or Environmental Engineering.
• You have at least 2 years of experience in project engineering/management, preferably in the water resources and hydraulics sector.
• You are a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• You are passionate about environmental protection and sustainable development.

Lake Shore Management: Planned and implemented measures to prevent erosion and improve the health of a lake’s shoreline.

Flood Protection: Provided technical expertise to oversee the construction of a large-scale flood protection project.

Debris Flow Mitigation: Developed strategies to protect against debris flows and flooding in a steep, fast-flowing stream.

River Revitalisation: Designed a comprehensive plan to both protect against flooding and enhance the ecological health of a meadow stream.

Project Management: Managed the construction of various hydraulic engineering projects, ranging from small to medium-sized, based on individual interests and project needs.

Collaborative Planning: Worked with others to develop plans for revitalising both small and large bodies of water.
