Senior Project Engineer – High Voltage – Zwolle

This position focuses on the development, design, and construction of high-voltage infrastructure for hydrogen facilities, battery energy storage systems, data centers, and utility grid operators.

The organization holds full in-house expertise across all phases of the energy transition – from laying underground and overhead high-voltage cables to building high-voltage substations of various scales. Teams work closely together, ensuring knowledge is shared and challenges are tackled collectively. The Zwolle region team is growing, currently around 15 engineers within a wider group of approximately 300 colleagues across the country.

About the Role

As a Senior Project Engineer High Voltage, you will be involved throughout the entire lifecycle of high-voltage substation projects – from initial concept and design through to implementation on-site. You will take technical responsibility for engineering activities and may lead a small project engineering team depending on project size and complexity.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle a broad scope of engineering tasks for both primary and secondary high-voltage systems.
• Apply strong technical understanding of high-voltage installations ranging from 110 kV up to 380 kV, including relevant norms, standards, and regulations.
• Collaborate closely with project management, clients, network operators, authorities, and suppliers.
• Prepare system documentation, functional specifications, technical reports, schedules, work instructions, and operational overviews.
• Monitor project budgets, review post-calculation results, and ensure alignment with project scope.
• Drive progress, resolve design or coordination issues, and communicate outcomes effectively.
• Perform quality checks and ensure accurate project documentation is maintained.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong experience in technical project leadership.
• Proven experience working on high-voltage projects for grid operators or industrial environments.
• Fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
• Core strengths: analytical mindset, structured working style, strong safety and quality awareness, and collaborative team approach.
