Job Summary:
I am currently seeking a skilled HSE Consultant for a 6-month contract to support my clients operations in the drug manufacturing space. This role will focus on ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations, improving safety standards, and ensuring that the company’s practices align with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry, with a strong understanding of HSE principles and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that all drug manufacturing activities comply with local, national, and international HSE regulations, including GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and OSHA standards.
Risk Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the manufacturing environment and recommend actions to mitigate risks, particularly in handling chemicals, machinery, and hazardous materials.
Safety Audits: Perform safety audits and inspections to ensure that safety equipment, procedures, and employee practices meet regulatory and internal standards.
Training: Develop and deliver HSE training programs for staff on topics such as equipment safety, chemical handling, emergency response, and environmental management.
Incident Reporting and Investigation: Lead the investigation of safety incidents or accidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate HSE records, including incident reports, safety audits, risk assessments, and compliance documentation. Report findings to senior management.
Continuous Improvement: Work with cross-functional teams to continuously improve HSE practices, implement new procedures, and promote a culture of safety within the organization.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field (or equivalent experience).
At least 3-5 years of experience working in HSE roles within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry, preferably in drug manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of HSE regulations such as OSHA, EPA, FDA, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
Experience in conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
Ability to develop and implement safety training programs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with employees at all levels.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Additional Skills:
Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) in the pharmaceutical industry.
First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).
Experience with environmental sustainability initiatives is a plus.
