FTTH Design Engineer – 12 Month Contract (+ Extensions) – Antwerp & Home Office

Darwin Recruitment is currently seeking a motivated and skilled FTTH Design Engineer to join their team and contribute to the expansion and optimization of their fiber optic networks across Belgium. We are looking to hire a temporary external consultant as soon as possible for a 12-month contract, with possible extensions.

Job Description: As an FTTH Design Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing fiber optic networks to provide high-speed internet and telecommunications services directly to homes. You will collaborate with project managers, field engineers, and other teams to ensure the successful rollout of FTTH infrastructure.

General Conditions:

• Day rate: To be discussed
• Start date: ASAP, Jan / Feb
• Duration: 12 month contract followed by extension or employment
• Location: Antwerp 50% / Home office 50%

Key Responsibilities:

• Network Design: Create detailed FTTH network designs, including fiber routes, splice plans, and equipment placement.
• GIS Mapping: Use GIS software to develop accurate network maps and associated documentation.
• Capacity Planning: Conduct capacity analysis to ensure designs support both current and future network demand.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that designs adhere to local, regional, and national regulations, as well as industry standards.
• Project Coordination: Work closely with cross-functional teams to align network designs with construction schedules and overall project objectives.
• Site Surveys: Carry out site surveys to gather necessary data and evaluate the feasibility of network deployments.
• Documentation: Keep detailed design documentation, including technical drawings, schematics, and project reports.
• Quality Assurance: Perform quality checks and ensure that all network designs meet performance and reliability standards.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in fiber optic network design, particularly FTTH projects.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD) and GIS tools. Familiarity with fiber optic design software is a plus.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of FTTH network architecture, fiber optic technologies, industry standards, and relevant regulations related to construction and environmental permitting.
