Data Center BMS Technician

Overview

We are looking for an experienced BMS Technician to support the build and commissioning phase of large-scale data center projects.
This role focuses on the installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of Building Management Systems (BMS) to ensure all environmental and control systems are delivered to specification and ready for operational handover.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with BMS installation, field device calibration, and system commissioning in mission-critical or complex building environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of BMS systems and associated field devices (temperature, pressure, humidity, flow sensors, etc.).

  • Assist with BMS network integration between HVAC, electrical, and control systems.

  • Perform point-to-point checks, sensor calibration, and functional testing during build and commissioning stages.

  • Work closely with commissioning agents, controls engineers, and general contractors to verify system performance and proper operation.

  • Review and interpret control schematics, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation (SOO).

  • Support factory acceptance tests (FATs) and site acceptance tests (SATs) for BMS panels and devices.

  • Ensure installation quality aligns with design documentation, standards, and project specifications.

  • Assist in preparing Method of Procedure (MOPs) and commissioning reports for client handover.

  • Identify and report any construction or integration issues affecting BMS performance.

  • Maintain accurate records of configuration, testing, and commissioning progress.

  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and commissioning teams to ensure coordinated delivery.

Qualifications

  • 3-7 years of experience in BMS installation, commissioning, or controls systems – ideally in data centers or mission-critical facilities.

  • Strong understanding of HVAC and control systems operation and field wiring.

  • Experience with Niagara Tridium, Schneider EcoStruxure, Siemens Desigo, Johnson Controls Metasys, or Honeywell platforms.

  • Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks protocols.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and sequences of operation.

  • Excellent troubleshooting, coordination, and communication skills.

  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to construction and commissioning standards.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • Tridium Niagara N4 Certification (preferred).

  • Experience in data center BMS commissioning (Level 1-5).

  • Knowledge of DCIM or EPMS integration.

  • Familiarity with Uptime Institute and ASHRAE guidelines.

  • OSHA or equivalent safety training.
