We’re looking for a skilled Senior Java Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team in Utrecht! With a strong background in Java and AWS, you’ll be responsible for various applications and services while focusing primarily on feature development, maintenance, performance improvement, and bug fixing.

Requirements

• Backend Development: Strong experience with Java (Spring MVC, Spring Boot) and database technologies (DocumentDB, MariaDB, PostgreSQL)

• Cloud & Infrastructure: Proficiency in AWS services (ECS, S3, RDS, KMS), Docker, and Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation preferred)

• Event-Driven & Scalable Systems: Experience with Kafka and modern CI/CD pipelines, with a solid understanding of test automation and software development lifecycle (SDL) processes

• Code Quality & Maintainability: Skilled in refactoring, writing clean code, and improving existing systems

• Frontend Knowledge: Familiarity with frontend technologies; experience with React, .NET, or Vaadin is a plus

Soft Skills

• Navigating complex, poorly documented code, troubleshooting production issues, and adapting to tight deadlines and scope changes

• Clearly explaining ideas, negotiating solutions, and coaching and supporting teammates

• Maintaining a respectful, responsible work ethic with a passion for continuous improvement

• Regularly updating team and stakeholders on plans and progress
