Company Overview:
We are a leading provider of life science and pharmaceutical solutions, specializing in protecting equipment and installations, including the chemical processing and vaccine production sectors. Our work involves controlling the development of corrosion, ensuring chemical contamination prevention, and offering in-house treatment solutions. We serve clients across Europe and are seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial Engineer to join our team.
Role Overview:
The Commercial Engineer will be a vital part of our team, taking the lead on project management, client relations, and sales operations for the northern France region (including Paris). This individual will play a key role in the development, pricing, and scheduling of projects, while coordinating with the operations manager to ensure seamless delivery. The position requires strong communication skills, technical knowledge of chemical processes, and the ability to manage the full sales process from lead generation to project kick-off.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Oversee the project lifecycle from lead intake to project completion, ensuring all aspects of the project are coordinated and completed on time.
- Client Interaction: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communication to understand their needs and keep them updated throughout the project.
- Sales Process: Manage the sales process including:
- Responding to leads and inquiries
- Discussing client needs and planning the scope of the project
- Identifying equipment, safety measures, and products to be used
- Collaborating with the operations manager to develop the process, team, and equipment needed
- Developing and submitting offers to clients
- Handling negotiations and maintaining client relationships
- Ensuring timely and accurate project planning and execution
- Operations Coordination: Work closely with the operations manager to ensure all aspects of the project, including people and equipment, are aligned with client needs.
- Chemical and Process Knowledge: Utilize an understanding of chemical processes and pharmaceutical manufacturing to provide insights into project planning and execution.
- Fieldwork: Frequent travel to client sites across France, Belgium, and Eastern Europe, with occasional overnight stays (approx. 10% of time).
- Sales Strategy: Develop pricing strategies and timelines for project kick-off and interventions, ensuring all logistics are in place for timely execution.
Requirements:
- Education/Background: A background in life sciences, pharma, or a related field is essential. An understanding of chemical processes and pharmaceutical equipment is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in commercial engineering, project management, or a similar role, with a proven track record of sales and client management.
- Skills: Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to understand and communicate technical processes.
- Travel: Must be willing to travel extensively (mainly in France, Belgium, and Eastern Europe), with occasional overnight stays.
Work Schedule:
- The position is based in the North of France but requires frequent travel across Belgium, France, and Eastern Europe.
- Travel: Approximately 30% operations, with a significant portion of the time spent on the road. Overnight stays required about 10% of the time.
