Backend Engineer (Python)

We’re supporting a well-funded AI startup building agentic products that automate everyday tasks and workflows.

They’re looking for a Backend Engineer with strong Python skills and experience building the systems behind AI-powered applications.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Python.

• Develop infrastructure to support AI agents, tool integrations and automated workflows.

• Integrate LLM services, external APIs and data sources.

• Design reliable systems for asynchronous tasks, data processing and application state.

• Improve performance, scalability and reliability as products grow.

• Work closely with AI, product and frontend engineers to ship features into production.

Requirements

• Strong commercial backend development experience using Python.

• Experience designing APIs, working with databases and deploying production services.

• Hands-on experience supporting agentic AI products or building backend systems for AI applications.

• Familiarity with LLM integrations, tool calling and workflow orchestration.

• Understanding of asynchronous processing, testing and monitoring.

• Comfortable owning features from design through deployment in a fast-moving startup.
