Senior Data Engineer – Freelance – Switzerland

Location: Zurich, Switzerland

Availability: Full-time

Start Date: July 2025

Contract Duration: 12 months

Our client is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support a major transformation project. This hands-on role focuses on delivering production-ready data pipelines using PySpark on Databricks, built to scale and optimized for performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain data pipelines using PySpark on Databricks
• Ensure performance and scalability (billions of records, hundreds of attributes)
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and architects to meet technical goals
• Balance fast delivery with code maintainability and low technical debt

Skills & Experience:

• Strong PySpark experience (Python alone not sufficient)
• Proven experience with Delta Lake and Databricks
• Solid understanding of Azure fundamentals
• 5+ years in software/data engineering
• Strong SQL and Python development skills
• Experience working in agile teams and large codebases
• Fluent in English
