Controls Technician (Niagara / Tritium – N4) – Mid-Atlantic**

Location: Virginia / Maryland
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Travel: Local site travel required (mileage reimbursed)

Overview

We are seeking experienced Controls Technicians to support Building Management System (BMS) and data center controls projects across Virginia and Maryland. This role involves hands-on commissioning, troubleshooting, and integration of Niagara/Tritium systems within large-scale, mission-critical environments.

The ideal candidate is dependable, technically solid, and capable of contributing quickly with minimal supervision.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of Niagara N4 / Tritium-based BMS and controls systems.

  • Integrate and validate BACnet devices, controllers, and supervisory platforms.

  • Conduct point-to-point testing, logic verification, alarm checks, and system optimization.

  • Review drawings, control sequences, and network architecture; identify issues and propose solutions.

  • Work across multiple active sites, supporting field teams and project managers.

  • Deliver accurate documentation, including redlines, reports, commissioning sheets, and as-builts.

  • Maintain safety, quality, and reliability standards in mission-critical construction environments.


Required Skills & Experience

  • 2-7+ years of field experience in controls, BMS/BAS, HVAC controls, or related technical installation roles.

  • Hands-on experience with Niagara / Tritium (N4 strongly preferred).

  • Working knowledge of BACnet communication and device integration.

  • Ability to diagnose issues in control logic, network communication, I/O wiring, and sequences of operation.

  • Comfortable in fast-paced construction and data-center environments.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to operate with limited oversight.

  • Must be local or within commuting distance of VA/MD sites.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting mission-critical or hyperscale data center projects.

  • Niagara N4 certification or OEM partner training.

  • Experience with Honeywell, Tridium, or other major automation platforms.

  • Electrical background with controls crossover.


Work Model

  • Contract-to-Hire: Intended as a long-term role with the opportunity to convert to full-time after the initial contract period.

  • Standard full-time schedule; overtime may be available depending on project needs.

  • All required tools, PPE, and equipment are provided after acceptance.
