About the role

An international engineering company specialising in marine mechanical systems and rotating equipment is looking for an International Field Service Technician.

The company supplies and services critical equipment used on commercial vessels, including shaft-line components, seals, bearings, couplings and related marine systems.

This is a genuinely international field role. You will travel to shipyards, ports and vessels worldwide to carry out installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair work.

What you will be doing

  • Travel internationally to vessels, shipyards and marine service locations
  • Carry out installation, maintenance and repair of marine mechanical equipment
  • Work on shaft-line and propulsion-related systems
  • Service and replace mechanical seals and bearing components
  • Support installation and maintenance of couplings and associated equipment
  • Carry out fault finding and diagnose mechanical problems
  • Support shaft alignment, mounting and mechanical installation activities
  • Assist with retrofit and repair projects
  • Work to tight tolerances and technical procedures
  • Complete service reports and communicate technical findings to customers and internal teams
  • Respond to planned maintenance activities as well as urgent service requirements

What we are looking for

  • Strong hands-on mechanical engineering or mechanical service background
  • Previous experience in marine, shipbuilding, heavy machinery, rotating equipment, mechanical installation or similar
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working with bearings, seals, shafts, couplings or other rotating equipment
  • Able to work in challenging customer and shipyard environments
  • Comfortable with significant international travel
  • Strong safety awareness
  • Full driving licence and passport suitable for international travel
  • English is mandatory
  • Right to work in the EU is mandatory

Marine experience would be a strong advantage, particularly exposure to propulsion systems, shaft lines, stern-tube seals, bearings, mechanical alignment or shipyard work.

The underlying business works on marine propulsion and shaft-line systems including stern-tube seals, intermediate shaft bearings, thrust bearings, couplings and related mechanical services. Its service operation includes planned docking work, emergency repairs, installation, alignment and on-site machining, with technicians supporting vessels internationally
