Darwin is assisting a well-established shipbuilding company with their search for a Shipbuilding Program Manager to oversee Arctic Security Cutter programs.
The Shipbuilding Program Manager will provide oversight for the Arctic Security Cutter (ASC) program, serving as the primary point of contact for program execution, contract administration, customer communications, reporting, scheduling, cost control, staffing, and subcontractor management. This role will oversee multiple complex planning and shipbuilding-related activities, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure program objectives, contractual requirements, schedules, budgets, and customer expectations are consistently met. The Program Manager will lead project management personnel, manage key internal and external stakeholders, and provide strategic direction throughout the lifecycle of assigned ASC program activities.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for contract administration, program execution, customer communications, reporting, meetings, and deliverables supporting the ASC program.
- Provide overall management, supervision, and oversight of planning, procurement, and project execution activities associated with the Arctic Security Cutter program.
- Lead and mentor Project Managers and program personnel to ensure successful execution of ASC program objectives and contractual requirements.
- Manage ASC program costs, schedules, staffing requirements, resource allocation, and overall performance.
- Oversee multiple complex projects and work packages, ensuring scope, methods, objectives, and deliverables remain aligned with program requirements.
- Coordinate activities across engineering, procurement, accounting, operations, planning, and subcontractor organizations supporting the ASC program.
- Serve as the primary intermediary between internal teams, customers, government stakeholders, subcontractors, and other external partners.
- Monitor program performance and proactively identify, mitigate, and resolve cost, schedule, staffing, technical, and execution risks.
- Oversee subcontractor performance, contractual deliverables, schedules, and compliance with ASC program requirements.
- Provide senior-level program status updates, financial reporting, performance analysis, and recommendations to leadership and customer representatives.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of program or project management experience within government or commercial shipbuilding.
- Demonstrated supervisory or management experience leading project managers, engineers, planners, or other technical personnel.
- Experience supporting U.S. government maritime, shipbuilding, maintenance, acquisition, procurement, or contracting programs.
- Experience with naval or maritime ship systems engineering, planning, maintenance, or program management.
- Demonstrated experience managing program budgets, costs, schedules, staffing, contracts, and operational deliverables.
- Experience providing engineering, technical, or program management solutions for complex ship systems or maritime programs.
- Familiarity with government program offices, military organizations, shipyards, or other government stakeholders preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, government representatives, senior leadership, technical teams, and subcontractors.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
