Fluid Systems Engineer
Darwin Space are working with an established European aerospace company that is growing its engineering function in the North of France.
We’re looking for a Fluid Systems Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team working on the development of complex fluid and mechanical hardware.
The Role:
You’ll be responsible for developing fluid systems and components from an early-stage engineering concept through to physical hardware and testing.
Your work will cover areas including system definition, engineering calculations, component selection, CAD development and technical analysis. You’ll also be involved in manufacturing, assembly, integration and test activities, giving you visibility across the complete development process.
A key part of the role will be reviewing hardware performance during testing, identifying issues and making improvements to the design where required.
Technical Background:
You’ll need a strong understanding of the fundamentals behind fluid and mechanical systems, including fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics and material behaviour.
Experience designing fluid systems is important, particularly around flow sizing, system routing and the selection of components such as valves and regulators.
You should also have practical CAD experience developing components and assemblies. Siemens NX experience would be beneficial, although other professional CAD platforms will be considered.
A hands-on approach is important for this position, so experience working with manufactured hardware, assembly activities or testing would be advantageous.
What You’ll Bring:
You’ll ideally hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering and have at least 2 years of relevant industry experience.
Your experience should demonstrate involvement in taking engineering hardware through multiple stages of development, rather than focusing solely on analysis or design.
Experience from the space industry is particularly relevant, although candidates from other technically demanding engineering environments may also be considered.
We’re looking for someone who can work independently on their area of responsibility while collaborating effectively with design engineers, technicians and wider project teams.
You’ll also need to be comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities can change and technical decisions need to be made efficiently.
Strong written and spoken English is required.
The Opportunity:
This is an opportunity to become part of a growing aerospace engineering team where you’ll be closely involved with physical hardware and have exposure to the full development cycle.
Rather than being focused on one narrow area, you’ll gain experience across engineering design, analysis, manufacturing, integration and testing, working on systems where reliability and performance are critical.
If you’re a fluid systems engineer looking for a hands-on role within the European aerospace sector, Darwin Space would like to hear from you.
Relocation: Candidates currently based outside France will also be considered where they have relevant space industry experience and are willing to relocate to the North of France.
Darwin Recruitment is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
