Senior Chemical / Process Engineer, Launch Fluid Systems | San Francisco | $140,000 to $180,000
Your models usually keep a plant running. These ones launch a rocket.
Once the engines light there is no second chance. This role owns the models, controllers and automation that fuel, pressurise and launch the vehicle.
We are hiring for a launch company that has already flown, so the rookie lessons are behind them. Hardware is hot fired regularly and launch cadence is ramping up.
You will:
- Model cryogenic and fluid systems, including propellant loading, tank pressurisation and two phase flow
- Size volumes with the hardware team
- Design control loops and countdown automation sequences
- Build test automation in simulation, hardware in the loop and CI/CD
- Support live countdown from mission control
You will need:
- 5+ years modelling and controlling physical systems
- Fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, process control and PID loop design
- Dynamic simulation experience. The team uses MATLAB, Simulink and Simscape. Aspen HYSYS, gPROMS or similar backgrounds are welcome
- Advanced degree in chemical, process, mechanical or aerospace engineering, physics, or equivalent
Useful extras: cryogenics, high pressure or hazardous fluids, propulsion test stands, ground support equipment (GSE).
Senior individual contributor role, 100% launcher focused.
Apply with your resume. Darwin Space, in confidence.
