Fabrication Equipment Owner – Laboratory Technician

A quantum technology company is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of vacuum thin-film deposition systems in a cleanroom production environment. The role focuses on electron beam evaporation equipment, argon ion milling, and RF plasma in-situ cleaning systems. The position is essential for ensuring equipment reliability, process stability, and high system uptime.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor vacuum deposition equipment to ensure process stability and repeatability
• Perform calibration procedures and monitor critical process parameters
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on vacuum and deposition systems
• Service and maintain key system components
• Ensure the integrity of vacuum, gas, and plasma systems
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to vacuum, beam, and deposition processes
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, calibration logs, and technical documentation
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers and external technical support teams
• Support instrumentation, hardware, and general laboratory activities

Minimum Requirements

• Technical diploma or degree in electrical, mechanical engineering, or a related field
• At least 2 years of experience working with vacuum-based equipment
• Strong understanding of vacuum systems and high-voltage equipment
• Excellent troubleshooting and hands-on technical skills
• Ability to work independently and follow structured procedures

Preferred Skills

• Experience with electron beam evaporation, ion milling, or plasma processing systems
• Experience working in cleanroom, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing environments
• Knowledge of electromechanics or experience as an electromechanical technician
• Familiarity with deposition monitoring equipment (e.g., quartz crystal microbalance systems)
• Experience with hardware development or laboratory instrumentation
• Valid driving licence and ability to travel between work sites
