Quantum Error Correction Research Scientist
About the role
The Quantum Error Correction (QEC) team is responsible for advancing fault-tolerant quantum computing architectures by developing innovative approaches to reduce the overhead and complexity of error correction, and by implementing practical solutions for scalable quantum systems.
The successful candidate will contribute to the research and development of fault-tolerant quantum computing architectures, working within a highly collaborative research environment focused on building universal, fault-tolerant quantum computers.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to research and development efforts in fault-tolerant quantum computing architectures.
- Develop decoding algorithms for quantum error-correcting codes, biased-noise quantum architectures, and classical error-correcting codes.
- Implement, test, and benchmark proof-of-concept decoding algorithms.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and execute QEC experiments and fault-tolerant protocols.
- Support resource estimation activities for different choices of quantum error correction schemes, decoding approaches, fault-tolerant gate sets, and target applications.
Requirements
- PhD in Quantum Error Correction, Quantum Information, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of post-PhD research experience in quantum error correction or equivalent industry/research experience.
- Strong publication record, including lead-author contributions and participation in leading quantum information or QEC conferences.
- Expertise in quantum error correction simulation tools (e.g., Stim) and QEC software development.
- Strong knowledge of bosonic codes and classical coding theory.
- Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
