Senior Project Manager – Solar PV & BESS (m/f/d)

I’m currently working with an ambitious international renewable energy developer who is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of its growing utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) portfolio across Germany.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of large-scale renewable energy projects, overseeing execution from pre-construction through to commissioning, Commercial Operation Date (COD) and final handover.

The position offers the opportunity to work on projects typically ranging from 20 MW to 100 MW, including hybrid PV+BESS installations, within an international and fast-growing business.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing utility-scale Solar PV and PV+BESS projects from pre-construction through to COD and operational handover.

• Taking ownership of project delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

• Managing and overseeing EPC contractors and external technical consultants.

• Coordinating construction activities, site management, HSE and commissioning teams.

• Monitoring project schedules, budgets, risks and contractor performance.

• Managing relationships with grid operators, technical advisers and other key stakeholders.

• Overseeing commissioning, performance testing and grid connection activities.

• Supporting contractual negotiations, variations and claims.

• Coordinating final project close-out and handover to operations teams.

What They’re Looking For

• Minimum 8 years’ experience delivering utility-scale Solar PV projects.

• At least 3 years’ experience as the lead Project Manager.

• Proven track record of delivering at least 5 utility-scale PV projects to COD in Germany.

• Previous experience with PV+BESS hybrid projects is essential.

• Experience managing EPC contractors and external technical advisers.

• Strong understanding of construction, commissioning and project delivery processes.

• Experience with MV grid connection projects; HV and substation experience is advantageous.

• Understanding of SCADA/PPC systems, EMS/BESS integration and electrical infrastructure.

• Fluent German and English communication skills.

• Engineering, construction management or relevant technical background.
