A well-established full-service marina and boatyard in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking an experienced Travel Lift Operator to support daily yard operations and vessel handling.

This role is responsible for the safe hauling, launching, blocking, and movement of vessels using a marine travel lift and other heavy equipment. The ideal candidate has experience working in a boatyard or marina environment, understands vessel handling procedures, and prioritizes safety, communication, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a marine travel lift to haul, launch, and relocate vessels of various sizes and types.
  • Position vessels accurately using lifting straps while coordinating with dockhands and yard staff.
  • Perform blocking and securing of vessels in the yard for storage, maintenance, or repair.
  • Assist with boat movement and yard logistics, including forklifts, trailers, and other equipment when needed.
  • Conduct pre-operation inspections of the travel lift and report maintenance or mechanical issues.
  • Ensure proper weight distribution and safe lifting procedures when handling vessels.
  • Communicate clearly with captains, dock staff, and yard teams during lifting and positioning operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized yard environment and assist with general marina operations.
  • Follow all marina safety procedures, environmental regulations, and operational guidelines.
  • Support service and maintenance teams by positioning vessels for repair or inspection.

Requirements:

  • Experience operating a marine travel lift, heavy equipment, or similar lifting machinery.
  • Prior experience working in a marina, boatyard, shipyard, or marine service environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of vessel handling and lifting procedures.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with team members and vessel operators.
  • Strong attention to safety and detail during lifting and yard operations.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical work when required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
