AI Governance & Privacy Operational Lead (DRWN)

Contract: Freelance | 4-Month Initial Engagement

Overview

We’re seeking a Freelance AI Governance & Privacy Operational Lead to support a leading digital organisation in embedding responsible AI, privacy, and governance controls across technology and product teams.

This role sits at the intersection of Technology, Data, Risk, Security, and Privacy, ensuring AI and data-driven initiatives align with regulatory, ethical, and business requirements while maintaining delivery velocity. You’ll also play a key role in improving governance processes through automation and scalable risk management practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the key liaison between Technology, Data, Risk, Privacy, and Security teams to support responsible AI and data governance initiatives.
• Embed privacy, compliance, and governance controls into software development and AI delivery processes.
• Drive automation of governance and risk workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual review effort.
• Lead privacy impact assessments, data flow reviews, and technical risk evaluations for AI and data-driven solutions.
• Support the governance of third-party AI and SaaS platforms, including vendor risk and compliance reviews.

Key Skills & Experience

• 5+ years’ experience in AI governance, technology risk, privacy, compliance, or technical programme management.
• Strong knowledge of GDPR, EU AI Act, and AI governance frameworks such as NIST AI RMF and ISO 42001.
• Experience implementing governance and compliance controls within Agile, DevOps, or SDLC environments.
• Hands-on experience with governance automation, GRC tools, Jira workflows, or policy-as-code approaches.
• Ability to translate regulatory, privacy, and risk requirements into practical technical controls and business processes.
