Senior Microsoft Security Engineer

The opportunity

Organisations across the Netherlands are investing heavily in the Microsoft security ecosystem, and they need someone who can turn that investment into measurable risk reduction. As Senior Microsoft Security Engineer, you will design, implement and govern enterprise security solutions that strengthen security posture, support compliance and drive real security transformation for customers.

This is a hands-on, advisory-led role. You will assess maturity, build roadmaps and then deliver them, working closely with customer SOC teams and senior stakeholders.

What you will do

Security posture management

Lead the implementation and optimisation of Microsoft security solutions to improve customers’ security posture
Assess security maturity and run posture reviews across Microsoft cloud and hybrid environments
Develop security baselines, standards, policies and governance frameworks
Identify gaps, recommend remediation plans and track risk reduction initiatives

Microsoft security solutions

Deploy and manage solutions across the Microsoft Defender suite, Sentinel, Entra ID and Purview
Configure Secure Score and Exposure Management capabilities
Apply Zero Trust principles across identity, endpoint, data and cloud workloads

Risk and compliance

Conduct security assessments aligned with CIS, NIST, ISO 27001 and Microsoft Security Best Practices
Develop remediation roadmaps and risk mitigation strategies
Support audit, compliance and regulatory requirements
Monitor posture KPIs and produce executive-level reporting and dashboards

Incident and threat management

Collaborate with SOC teams to improve threat detection and response
Review incidents, threat trends and exposure findings to strengthen preventive controls
Drive continuous improvement based on threat intelligence and security analytics

What you bring

8+ years in cybersecurity, including 4+ years focused on Microsoft Security technologies
Strong expertise in the Microsoft Defender suite, Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Entra ID
Working knowledge of Microsoft Purview at operator level
Solid grounding in Security Posture Management, Azure cloud security, identity security and Zero Trust architecture
Experience with security assessments, governance and risk management
Strong understanding of SIEM, XDR, CSPM, DSPM, DLP and MIP technologies
Experience building executive dashboards and KPI reporting
Fluent Dutch and English, written and spoken

Preferred: CISSP, CISM or CCSP
