Job Description

We are currently looking for a Data Center BAS Estimator to support Building Automation Systems projects across the data center and mission-critical sector.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing accurate cost estimates, reviewing technical documentation, and preparing competitive bids for BAS, HVAC controls, and associated building automation systems.

This is a 100% remote position, offering the opportunity to work from a home office while supporting data center projects through detailed estimating, material takeoffs, scope development, and coordination with internal teams and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for BAS, HVAC controls, and building automation projects within the data center sector.
• Review drawings, specifications, control schematics, points lists, and other project documentation to determine project scope and requirements.
• Complete material and equipment takeoffs, identifying appropriate controls equipment, components, and associated materials.
• Develop bid scopes covering materials, purchased equipment, labour, engineering hours, and field installation requirements.
• Identify discrepancies, exclusions, and potential cost implications within project specifications and tender documents.
• Request, review, and negotiate vendor and subcontractor quotations to support accurate and competitive pricing.
• Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, bid proposals, clarifications, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with sales, engineering, project management, procurement, and field teams to ensure estimates meet project requirements.
• Maintain and update estimating databases, unit costs, labour rates, and vendor pricing information.
• Support pre-bid activities and communicate with relevant stakeholders to clarify technical and commercial requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience in BAS, BMS, HVAC controls, or building automation estimating.
• Understanding of building automation systems and their application within data centers or other mission-critical facilities.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, control schematics, specifications, and points lists.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, controls equipment, electrical systems, and associated building services.
• Experience with material takeoffs, labour calculations, scope development, and bid preparation.
• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids, work independently, and meet deadlines in a remote environment.

Education & Qualifications

An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.

Relevant experience in BAS/BMS estimating, HVAC controls, or building automation may be considered in place of formal qualifications.

Working Arrangement

This is a 100% remote, home-office position, open to candidates based across the Central and Eastern regions of the United States. There is no requirement to work from a company office on a regular basis. The successful candidate must be comfortable managing their workload independently and collaborating remotely with project, engineering, and commercial teams.

Experience supporting data center, hyperscale, or other mission-critical projects is highly relevant to this position.
