The Site Engineer II is responsible for ensuring the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of critical infrastructure within the data centre. This includes carrying out maintenance, testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and associated systems to maximise uptime and operational performance.

The role supports the delivery of customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs) by ensuring critical assets remain available and operational. The Site Engineer II also coordinates maintenance activities, supervises contractors, mentors junior engineers, and may participate in a 24/7 on-call or shift rotation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all activities comply with relevant legislation, industry standards, and company requirements.
  • Carry out all work using approved safe systems of work and risk control measures.
  • Escalate safety concerns and operational risks promptly.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
  • Perform equipment switching and system operations in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and conduct regular infrastructure inspections.
  • Support data centre energy efficiency initiatives and implement optimisation measures.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the facility.
  • Identify operational risks and proactively escalate issues that could impact service delivery or SLAs.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults across critical infrastructure systems.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules in collaboration with Site Operations and Technical Planning teams.
  • Supervise contractors and external service providers to ensure work is completed safely and to the required standard.
  • Assemble, install, repair, and commission equipment as required.
  • Make informed technical decisions within established operational procedures and management guidance.
  • Respond to incidents and support service restoration activities.
  • Execute Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs) during critical events.
  • Work closely with the Manager on Duty to minimise operational impact.
  • Escalate incidents and potential SLA breaches in a timely manner.
