Financial Controller – Renewable Energy (m/f/d)

Germany | International Renewable Energy Developer

I’m currently working with an established international renewable energy developer who is looking to appoint a Financial Controller to support the continued growth of its renewable energy portfolio across Germany.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with approximately 3-5 years of experience in financial modelling and project finance, ideally within the renewable energy sector.

You’ll play an important role in assessing the financial viability of utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects, supporting investment decisions and ensuring strong financial oversight throughout the project lifecycle.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and maintaining financial models for renewable energy projects.

• Assessing the financial viability and profitability of Solar PV and BESS investments.

• Supporting project valuations, investment analysis and financial forecasting.

• Preparing budgets, cash flow forecasts and financial reports.

• Analysing project costs, revenues, returns and financial performance.

• Supporting investment decisions through financial modelling and scenario analysis.

• Working closely with project development, M&A and management teams.

• Monitoring financial risks and identifying opportunities to optimise project returns.

What They’re Looking For

• Approximately 3-5 years of experience in financial controlling, financial modelling or project finance.

• Strong financial modelling skills, ideally within renewable energy or infrastructure.

• Experience assessing the financial viability of utility-scale renewable energy projects.

• Good understanding of project economics, cash flows, investment returns and financial forecasting.

• Advanced Excel skills and experience building complex financial models.

• Experience working with Solar PV, BESS or other infrastructure investments.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Fluent German and good English communication skills.
