Electronics Engineer – Space Systems
Darwin Space are representing a European NewSpace company that is expanding its engineering team in Germany.
We’re looking for an experienced electronics engineer with a strong background in hardware development, particularly across power electronics and spacecraft systems.
The Role:
You’ll work on the development of electronics for spacecraft subsystems, contributing across the full hardware lifecycle from initial circuit design through to testing and qualification.
This is a hands-on role within an interdisciplinary engineering environment. You’ll be involved in component selection, circuit development, PCB design, hardware bring-up and the verification of electronics intended for demanding space applications.
You’ll work closely with engineers across different disciplines to develop reliable hardware and resolve technical challenges throughout the development and integration process.
Technical Background:
A strong electronics hardware background is essential, with experience designing and developing boards from concept through to testing.
Key technical requirements include:
Power electronics, switch-mode power supplies, isolated and non-isolated DC-DC converters, magnetics and control loops, alongside strong experience with schematic capture and PCB design using Altium Designer.
You should also be comfortable with circuit simulation, power and signal integrity analysis, hardware bring-up and debugging.
Practical experience with stability analysis, including gain and phase measurements and compensation network design and tuning, is highly relevant.
Experience working with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, multimeters, spectrum analysers and VNAs is also expected.
What You’ll Bring:
A degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred, alongside 5+ years of professional experience in electronics hardware development.
We’re looking for someone with strong hands-on experience across schematic design, PCB development and board-level testing.
Previous experience developing electronics for space or aerospace applications would be highly advantageous, particularly where you have worked with reliability, derating or worst-case analysis.
You should be comfortable working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment and be able to communicate effectively in English.
The Opportunity:
You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of electronics development for advanced spacecraft systems, working across design, integration, testing and qualification.
It’s a role suited to an engineer who enjoys being close to the hardware and wants to see their designs progress from the initial circuit through to fully tested space-qualified electronics.
If you have strong electronics hardware experience, a particular strength in power electronics and are looking to work on next-generation spacecraft technology, Darwin Space would like to hear from you.
Please note: Due to the nature of the work, candidates based outside Germany must already have the necessary right to live and work in Germany, along with any required security clearance.
Darwin Recruitment is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
