What is staffing in software engineering?

Staffing in software engineering refers to the process of sourcing and placing skilled software engineers within a business, either on a permanent or contract basis. Engineering staffing agencies like Darwin Recruitment manage the sourcing, screening, and placement process, giving businesses faster access to specialist talent than hiring directly.

What is engineering staffing augmentation?

Engineering staffing augmentation is the practice of supplementing your existing engineering team with external specialists on a temporary or project basis. Rather than hiring permanently, businesses bring in contract engineers to fill specific skills gaps, meet project deadlines, or scale capacity quickly, without the long-term overhead of additional headcount.

What are the best engineering staffing solutions?

The best engineering staffing solution depends on your specific needs. Contingency recruitment suits individual permanent hires with no upfront cost. Contract recruitment provides fast access to flexible talent. Retained recruitment is best for competitive or high-volume campaigns. Employed leasing removes compliance risk for temporary workers. Darwin Recruitment offers all of these, tailored to your requirements.

What are some good engineering staffing agencies?

A good engineering staffing agency should have genuine sector expertise, established candidate networks, and a track record of placing specialist talent. Darwin Recruitment has been a dedicated STEM and engineering recruiter since 2001, operating across 15 countries with consultants who specialise exclusively in engineering disciplines.

How does engineering staffing work?

Engineering staffing typically begins with a brief from the hiring business outlining the role, required skills, and timeline. A specialist recruiter like Darwin then searches their network, headhunts suitable candidates, screens applicants, and presents a shortlist. The client interviews and selects, with the agency managing the offer and onboarding support throughout.
