Role Overview:
The DOORS – DXL Specialist will be responsible for the development, optimization, and consolidation of tools that generate documents from IBM Rational DOORS using DXL scripting. This role involves streamlining existing document generation processes by integrating three different tools into a more efficient, unified system. The position requires advanced knowledge of DXL (DOORS eXtension Language), experience with DOORS administration or requirements management, and the ability to enhance and improve the functionality of documents and report generation.
Key Responsibilities:
- DXL Scripting & Tool Development: Develop, optimize, and maintain custom scripts using DXL to automate and enhance document generation and reporting from DOORS.
- Tool Consolidation: Analyze and consolidate three existing document generation tools into a single, more efficient tool to streamline functionality and improve reporting output.
- Document Generation: Leverage the Rational Publishing Engine to convert DOORS data into Word documents while ensuring consistency and accuracy across different tools.
- DOORS Administration: Act as a DOORS administrator or requirements manager, providing expertise in managing requirements and supporting other team members with DOORS-related tasks.
- Collaboration & Reporting: Work closely with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and provide solutions for improving document generation and management.
- Tool Maintenance & Improvement: Continuously monitor, maintain, and improve document/report generation tools, ensuring functionality aligns with evolving business needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- DXL Scripting Expertise: Advanced experience with DXL scripting, especially for developing GUIs, automating processes, and optimizing document/report generation from DOORS.
- DOORS Administration: Significant experience as a DOORS administrator or in a DOORS requirements management role, including customization and process optimization.
- Rational Publishing Engine: Experience working with Rational Publishing Engine for document generation, particularly moving DOORS data to Word or other formats.
- Tool Consolidation & Development: Proven ability to consolidate and develop tools to optimize processes and reduce redundancy.
Preferred Skills:
- GIT: Experience with GIT for version control and managing DXL scripts or tool development.
- JIRA & Confluence: Knowledge of JIRA for project management and Confluence for documentation management and collaboration.
