Production Test Technician

I’m working with an innovative U.S. space company developing advanced spacecraft systems. They are looking for multiple Production Test Technicians to perform environmental qualification testing on flight hardware, ensuring components can withstand the demanding conditions of launch and space operations.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on vibration, shock, thermal, and environmental testing, working alongside engineering teams to validate the performance and reliability of aerospace hardware.

Responsibilities

Environmental Test Execution

  • Set up and operate vibration test equipment, including electrodynamic shakers, pneumatic systems, and shock test machines.
  • Program and operate vibration controllers for sine, random, and shock test profiles.
  • Perform environmental testing including vibration, thermal, thermal vacuum (TVAC), and humidity testing using both automated and manual equipment.

Instrumentation & Test Setup

  • Instrument flight hardware and test fixtures using accelerometers, load cells, strain gauges, and other sensors.
  • Assemble, configure, and calibrate data acquisition (DAQ) systems.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot test instrumentation and electrical harnesses.

Documentation & Analysis

  • Accurately document test procedures, results, and observations.
  • Support engineers with data analysis, troubleshooting, and investigation of test anomalies.
  • Prepare technical reports and maintain complete testing records.

Equipment & Laboratory Support

  • Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of environmental test equipment, including vibration systems, thermal chambers, and instrumentation.
  • Support the design, installation, and maintenance of test equipment and Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Follow established safety, quality, cleanroom, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) control procedures.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Support additional Assembly, Integration & Test (AI&T) activities as required.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure efficient test execution and project delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree in a technical discipline is advantageous.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience performing vibration, shock, or environmental testing, ideally within the aerospace or other high-reliability industries.
  • Experience operating electrodynamic shakers and vibration test controllers.
  • Familiarity with environmental testing standards such as MIL-STD-810, NASA GEVS, or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and data acquisition (DAQ) software.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift to approximately 35 lbs (16 kg).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with thermal vacuum (TVAC), thermal cycling, burn-in, or other environmental qualification testing.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Background supporting research & development or high-volume production environments.
  • Experience operating cranes, forklifts, or other material handling equipment.
  • Basic soldering, wiring, or harness fabrication experience.

Compensation

  • $40-$50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Competitive benefits package with additional performance-based compensation opportunities.

Additional Information

  • Full-time onsite position in the United States.
  • Opportunity to work on advanced spacecraft hardware supporting next-generation space missions in a fast-paced engineering and production environment.
