Photonics Test & Process Engineer

We’re looking for a Photonics Test & Process Engineer with hands-on experience in optical testing and cleanroom processes to support device characterization and process development.

Our client is a European deep-technology company developing next-generation optical components for high-performance communication. Their mission is to push the boundaries of photonics by combining advanced engineering, precision manufacturing, and strong supplier collaboration to bring cutting-edge solutions to market.

Their team brings together experts in photonics, semiconductor processing, and device engineering to build scalable, high-performance solutions within an international R&D environment.

What you’ll do:

• Set up and operate optical test stations for photonic device evaluation
• Perform advanced measurements (insertion loss, transfer function, EO/EE testing)
• Conduct photonic integrated circuit characterization and support customer validations
• Execute and optimize cleanroom processes (bonding, BEOL, PECVD, metallization)
• Analyze test data and provide insights to support R&D development
• Collaborate with suppliers and support process qualification and alignment

What we’re looking for:

• Hands-on experience with optical testing and photonic device characterization
• Experience working in cleanroom environments and semiconductor processes
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced R&D setting
• Strong communication skills for cross-functional and supplier collaboration
• Experience with automated testing, SPC, or high-speed measurements is a plus

Education:

• Master’s degree in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or similar
• Equivalent practical experience will be considered

Location:

• Ghent, Belgium – 4 days onsite
