The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating and managing the engineering activities associated with complex marine new-build projects across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, piping, electrical, and naval architecture. This role oversees engineering schedules, budgets, technical deliverables, and project requirements while ensuring compliance with applicable engineering standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The position works closely with project leadership, production, planning, procurement, design partners, customers, and regulatory authorities to facilitate effective project execution. The Senior Project Engineer may also provide field engineering support at production facilities and contribute technical expertise to business development, estimating, and project execution activities.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule engineering activities across multiple disciplines to support successful project execution.
- Initiate, organize, monitor, and manage engineering workstreams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop, maintain, and control integrated engineering master schedules, milestones, budgets, and technical deliverables.
- Lead requirements analysis and ensure engineering solutions comply with applicable standards, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Identify, track, and resolve engineering issues and provide timely technical solutions during project execution.
- Provide field engineering support at production facilities, including coordination and resolution of engineering issues affecting construction.
- Work closely with project engineering leadership to integrate engineering activities, deliverables, and technical products.
- Provide technical support to business development, estimating, project management, production, and other project teams.
- Serve as a key engineering liaison among customers, project management, production, planning, procurement, external design organizations, and regulatory authorities.
- Organize project team resources and facilitate effective communication, coordination, and collaboration across engineering disciplines.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional engineering experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of direct project engineering or comparable experience supporting marine new-construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating engineering activities across multiple technical disciplines.
- Working knowledge of marine regulatory and statutory requirements, including applicable U.S. Coast Guard and international maritime regulations.
- Familiarity with classification society requirements and standards, such as those issued by ABS, Lloyd’s Register, or DNV.
- Strong project planning, scheduling, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written, verbal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering-related computer applications; experience with project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and, when required, provide engineering support in a production or shipyard environment.
