Project Focus
I’m currently working with a client looking for a Senior Magento Backend Engineer to join a high-profile eCommerce programme. You’ll play a key role in enhancing and scaling a complex Magento platform, developing custom backend functionality, integrating enterprise systems, and improving platform performance within an AWS cloud environment.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced Magento specialist who enjoys building robust backend solutions, solving complex technical challenges, and delivering high-quality code in a fast-paced Agile environment.
Key Skills & Experience Required
- Extensive commercial experience developing with Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce
- Strong backend development skills using PHP
- Experience building and customising Magento modules and extensions
- Solid understanding of Magento architecture and best practices
- Experience integrating third-party platforms such as ERP, PIM, OMS, CRM, payment gateways, and logistics systems
- Strong knowledge of REST and GraphQL APIs
- Experience with MySQL and database optimisation
- Understanding of caching, scalability, and performance optimisation for high-traffic eCommerce platforms
- Experience working with AWS cloud environments (deployment and platform support is highly desirable)
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices
- Strong troubleshooting skills for backend, integration, and production issues
- Excellent communication skills and experience working within distributed Agile teams
Desirable
- Hands-on experience deploying or supporting Magento platforms on AWS
- Experience working in large-scale, enterprise eCommerce environments
