Darwin Space are currently hiring for x2 Mechatronic Technicians on behalf of a business in Munich.

Key Responsibilities

* Assemble and integrate telematics devices, antennas, sensors, and communication modules onto vehicles, trailers, and agricultural equipment.

* Support the design and installation of ruggedised enclosures, wiring harnesses, connectors, and power systems for harsh outdoor environments.

* Integrate and validate connectivity technologies including:

* Perform bench testing and field trials to verify system performance, connectivity, and mechanical robustness.

* Conduct RF and connectivity testing for terrestrial and non-terrestrial communication networks.

* Use laboratory equipment such as spectrum analysers, multimeters, and data loggers to measure and diagnose system performance.

* Develop and maintain test procedures, fixtures, and deployment quality assurance processes.

* Install, commission, and troubleshoot telematics systems on commercial vehicles, agricultural machinery, and mobile assets.

* Optimise antenna placement, cable routing, grounding, and power integration.

* Support firmware and engineering teams by collecting field telemetry and diagnosing hardware, sensor, and connectivity issues.

* Produce installation guides, wiring diagrams, test reports, and deployment documentation.

* Contribute to root-cause analysis of field issues related to connectivity, power systems, and mechanical reliability.

* Provide feedback to engineering and manufacturing teams to improve product robustness and ease of installation.

* Evaluate and recommend component, supplier, and process improvements.

Qualifications & Experience

* Degree, diploma, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in: Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering, Automotive Electronics or Related technical disciplines

* 3-7 years of hands-on experience in telematics, embedded systems, connected devices, automotive electronics, or industrial IoT.

* Strong knowledge of: 12V / 24V DC electrical systems, Vehicle sensors and interfaces, CAN, ISOBUS, J1939, or similar communication protocols

* Experience with: Wiring harnesses, Crimping and connector assembly, Mechanical assembly and ruggedisation, Vehicle-mounted telematics or IoT systems

* Experience planning and executing technical projects within Agile/Scrum environments.

* Demonstrated ability to build, test, and deploy products from prototype through field validation.

* Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Microsoft Office, and related collaboration platforms.

* Understanding of APIs, system architectures, and end-to-end product workflows.

* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in fast-paced startup environments.

* Fluent German and English.

* Based in Munich or willing to relocate.
