Principal Engineer

My client is a forward-thinking maritime group, is seeking a passionate Principal Engineer to join our team in Antwerp, Belgium. They are on a mission to revolutionize the shipping industry by pioneering green hydrogen and ammonia technologies.
In this pivotal role, you’ll take complete ownership of the technical development of one or more industrial projects. You’ll be responsible for all technical aspects, from mechanical and electrical design to system performance and regulatory compliance. As a technical expert, you’ll continuously expand your knowledge and ensure your team stays ahead of the curve by implementing industry best practices and certification standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical development of industrial projects from concept to completion
- Oversee all technical aspects of assigned projects, including design, performance, and compliance
- Conduct technical investigations and develop solutions for field problems
- Implement continuous learning and improvement into future projects
- Manage project budgets and product costs
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental regulations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering/industrial experience
- Proven experience in industrial/heavy-duty application development (preferred)
- Familiarity with certification processes (preferred)
- Knowledge of hydrogen and/or fuel cells (a plus)
- Experience in Oil & Gas, CNB, LNG, etc. (valuable)
- Strong technical knowledge and ability to deliver results on time and within budget
- Experience with engineering product development for industrial applications
- Familiarity with gateway processes and reporting
- Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively
- Proficiency in MS Project, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Exceptional ownership and attention to technical details
- Excellent organizational skills
- Willingness to travel regularly
- Fluency in Dutch and English (written and spoken)
