Based in a scenic location near Munich, this company operates at the forefront of satellite communications, bridging the gap between space and Earth with advanced optical technology.
The Role:
As an Optical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing and developing optical ground terminals that enable high-speed laser communication between satellites and Earth. You’ll be involved in everything from concept development and optical system design to hands-on prototyping and integration. Your work will directly contribute to advancing space-based optical communication, ensuring robust and efficient data transmission.
Your Responsibilities:
-
Develop and optimize optical ground terminals for space-to-ground laser communication.
-
Design optical systems, including beam tracking, fiber coupling, and free-space optics.
-
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including RF, software, and hardware engineers, to integrate optical communication systems.
-
Conduct performance testing, troubleshooting, and validation of optical subsystems.
-
Support ongoing advancements in optical and laser communication technologies.
Who You Are:
-
You have 5-10 years of experience in optical system design, ideally in free-space optical communication, laser systems, or photonics.
-
You’re skilled in optical simulation and design tools such as Zemax, Code V, or equivalent.
-
You have experience with beam steering, fiber coupling, and adaptive optics.
-
You’re familiar with optomechanical integration and alignment techniques.
-
Basic programming skills in Python or C for data analysis and automation are a plus.
-
You thrive in an environment where hands-on work and collaboration drive innovation.
Why Join?
-
Innovative Work: Be part of a team pushing the boundaries of optical satellite communications.
