Overview of the Role
We are working with an innovative high-technology engineering organisation developing advanced security and monitoring solutions for critical infrastructure and maritime environments. They are looking to hire a Product Owner to lead the coordination and delivery of complex multidisciplinary development programmes involving both hardware and software technologies.
This is a highly visible position sitting at the centre of product development, responsible for translating product strategy into executable development plans, coordinating engineering teams, managing technical risks, and ensuring successful product integration and release activities. The role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge systems with real-world operational impact while collaborating with talented engineers across multiple technical disciplines.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience managing complex hardware and software development projects in a technical project management, product ownership, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering environments.
- Experience coordinating technical teams, development activities, and system integration efforts.
- Excellent planning, prioritisation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to break down complex technical challenges into structured and executable work packages.
- Strong communication skills with a proactive and collaborative approach.
- Comfortable working within fast-paced, high-technology development environments.
Required / Highly Preferred:
- Experience translating product roadmaps into development plans and deliverables.
- Knowledge of release planning, milestone management, and development lifecycle processes.
- Experience managing technical risks, dependencies, and project timelines.
- Ability to define scope, requirements, acceptance criteria, and delivery readiness metrics.
- Experience supporting technical decision-making processes and product release activities.
Beneficial:
- Previous experience within maritime, defence, security, robotics, autonomous systems, sensing technologies, or other advanced engineering sectors.
- Exposure to mission-critical or safety-critical technology development.
- Experience working across both hardware and software engineering teams.
- Familiarity with agile product development methodologies and systems engineering practices.
