Grid Connection Engineer – Solar PV & BESS

Germany | Utility-Scale Renewable Energy

I’m currently working with an established international renewable energy developer who is looking to appoint a Grid Connection Engineer to support the development of its growing utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) portfolio across Germany.

This is an opportunity to join an international business at the forefront of the energy transition, taking responsibility for identifying grid capacity, securing connection opportunities and coordinating with Transmission System Operators (TSOs) to bring renewable energy projects forward.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Identifying available grid capacity and suitable connection points for utility-scale PV and BESS projects.

• Assessing grid connection feasibility and evaluating technical constraints.

• Managing communication, negotiations and coordination with TSOs and relevant grid operators.

• Leading grid connection enquiries, applications and technical discussions.

• Evaluating connection costs, timelines and associated project risks.

• Working closely with project development, engineering and external technical consultants.

• Supporting projects through the grid connection process towards Ready-to-Build (RTB).

What They’re Looking For

• Experience in grid connection engineering within renewable energy, utilities or the power sector.

• Strong understanding of the German electricity grid and grid connection processes.

• Experience identifying grid capacity and assessing potential connection points.

• Previous experience working directly with TSOs and/or DSOs.

• Understanding of grid infrastructure, substations, transmission networks and connection requirements.

• Experience supporting utility-scale Solar PV and/or BESS projects.

• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

• Fluent German and good English communication skills.
