Chief Engineer
My client is specialized in coastal and inland waterway transportation, operating a diverse fleet consisting of general cargo coasters, pusher tugs and push barges.
The company’s primary market focus is on European inland waterways and offer a full spectrum of maritime logistics services, including chartering, transport, stock management, and storage solutions.
The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of all engineering systems on board the general cargo coasters. This includes maintaining equipment, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing the technical performance of the vessel. The role demands both hands-on and managerial duties, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the ship’s engine room and will a 4-month rotation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain equipment as per maintenance schedules, with special attention to critical systems.
- Monitor the technical performance of the vessel and troubleshoot issues.
- Keep the engine room log and maintenance schedules current.
- Record and manage fuel, lubricating oil, fresh water levels, and essential spare parts.
- Ensure the correct type of fuel is used, adhering to local regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the engine room and stores.
- Assist the Captain with additional duties as outlined in the Duties Matrix.
Qualifications:
- Valid Certificate of Competency for the role.
- Strong understanding of marine engineering systems and maintenance protocols.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to follow safety and environmental regulations.
