We are looking for a Freelance Senior Java Engineer to join a new Payments Team working across payment-related services and integrations within a wider platform organisation.

This is a small, fast-moving team where engineers are expected to work independently, communicate proactively, and contribute with a strong ownership mindset.

Requirements:
Strong Java experience with Spring Boot
Experience working in AI-assisted development (Claude, Gemini, Cursor, Copilot is all relevant.)
Experience with spec-driven development workflows
Comfortable working autonomously with minimal supervision
Nice to have: Fintech or payments domain experience
AI-Driven Development
The team follows an AI-first engineering workflow. Candidates should have practical experience using AI tools to support software development

Refining requirements/specifications
Generating implementation support with AI
Reviewing and validating AI-generated code
Location: Remote (Europe)

Start: June 2026

Initial Contract: 3 months, potential to extend
