Freelance Data Transformation Lead
Location: Europe (Remote, EU time zones)
Start: July 2026
Contract Length: 6 Months
Commitment: 5 days per week
Overview
We’re hiring a Freelance CDO to help a fast-growing scale-up define how data is structured, governed, and used across the business. This is a hands-on, operational leadership role requiring high level of strategical responsibilities with additional executional tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement a data operating model
- Resolve core data modelling decisions
- Establish data governance, ownership, and GDPR-compliant practices
- Enable consistent data usage across finance, operations, and marketing
- Advise C-level stakeholders on data strategy and investment
- Design the future data organisation
Requirements
- 10+ years in data leadership (CDO / Head of Data / similar)
- Proven experience building data capability from scratch
- Background in regulated, multi-market B2B, SaaS environments (fintech beneficial)
- Strong in data governance, federated models, and business-level data modelling
- Hands-on experience with modern data platforms (e.g. Databricks, Unity Catalog)
- Able to operate credibly at C-level and drive business alignment
- Additional experience delivering AI/ML use casses on governed data beneficial
