About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Centre Mechanical Commissioning (Cx) Manager to lead and manage the mechanical commissioning process for our state-of-the-art data centre facility in Istanbul, Turkey.
As a key contractor on-site, you will be responsible for driving the commissioning program from Level 1 (Factory Acceptance Testing) through to Level 5 (Integrated Systems Testing / IST). You will ensure all mission-critical mechanical systems-including hyper-scale cooling, chilled water systems, AHUs/CRAHs, and fire suppression-are tested, validated, and documented to meet strict Uptime Institute Tier standards, ASHRAE guidelines, and local Turkish regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and Manage Cx Process: Oversee the end-to-end commissioning process (L1 to L5) for complex mechanical and critical cooling systems.
- Planning & Scheduling: Develop and execute comprehensive commissioning plans, procedures, and scripts aligned with aggressive project milestones.
- Technical Quality Control: Review and approve method statements, test scripts, and Level 4/5 functional performance testing reports to ensure standard compliance.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate closely with design teams, the general contractor, MEP subcontractors, and client operations to resolve technical issues and defects.
- Safety First: Oversee and enforce Control of Hazardous Energy (COHE) and Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) safety protocols during energized commissioning phases.
- Witness & Inspection: Lead site inspections and directly witness crucial functional and load-testing procedures.
- Handover & Documentation: Ensure all commissioning documentation, defect logs, and “as-built” records are fully auditable, localized, and ready for handover to the local facility operations team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a highly related technical discipline.
- Experience: 10+ years of engineering experience, with a minimum of 3-5 years specifically dedicated to commissioning management in data centres or critical environments (e.g., semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or power plants).
- Technical Expertise: In-depth understanding of high-density cooling systems (Chilled Water, CRAC/CRAH, Adiabatic Systems), BMS controls, and system redundancy models (N+1, 2N).
- Industry Standards: Strong knowledge of ASHRAE commissioning guidelines and Uptime Institute Tier III/IV standards.
- Software Competency: Familiarity with online project management, QA/QC, and commissioning platforms (e.g., CxAlloy, BIM 360, Procore).
- Language & Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Turkish is highly advantageous for coordinating with local subcontractors and authorities on-site.
- Certifications: Professional credentials such as CDCP, NEBB, ASHRAE Cx, or equivalent are highly desirable.
