We are working with a Commercial Vessel Service Provider seeking an experienced Diesel Service Technician to support the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, and repair of medium- and high-speed diesel engines used in commercial marine vessels, worldwide. The successful candidate will work on propulsion and auxiliary engines, performing field service, commissioning, diagnostics, and emergency repairs on a variety of 2-stroke and 4-stroke marine diesel platforms. This position requires extensive hands-on mechanical experience, strong troubleshooting abilities, and the flexibility to travel to ports, shipyards, and customer vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on commercial marine diesel engines.
  • Conduct major and minor overhauls of 2-stroke and 4-stroke propulsion and auxiliary engines.
  • Troubleshoot engine performance, fuel systems, lubrication systems, cooling systems, turbochargers, governors, and control systems.
  • Perform cylinder head, piston, liner, crankshaft, connecting rod, fuel injector, and fuel pump maintenance and replacement.
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with OEM specifications.
  • Conduct engine commissioning, startup assistance, load testing, and sea trial support.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and determine root causes of equipment issues.
  • Interpret engine performance data and recommend corrective actions.
  • Inspect and repair reduction gears, shafting systems, and related propulsion equipment.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, schematics, and service bulletins.
  • Prepare detailed service reports, inspection findings, and maintenance documentation.
  • Coordinate parts requirements and assist with job planning and execution.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, environmental regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Provide technical support to vessel operators, chief engineers, and maintenance personnel.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or technical/vocational training in diesel technology, marine engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience servicing commercial marine diesel engines.
  • Hands-on experience with engine overhaul and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of fuel injection systems, turbocharging, engine controls, and emissions systems.
  • Ability to read technical documentation and engineering drawings.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to work aboard vessels, in shipyards, and in industrial environments.
