We’re working with a marine service provider in Fort Lauderdale, FL seeking an experienced Marine Service Technician to support yacht repair, maintenance, refit, and commissioning projects. The successful candidate will perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, overhauls, and preventative maintenance on a variety of yacht propulsion, mechanical, electrical, and auxiliary systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, customer service skills, and the ability to travel to marinas, shipyards, and customer vessels as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of yacht propulsion and auxiliary systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic equipment onboard yachts and marine vessels.
- Conduct engine service, overhaul, commissioning, and performance testing.
- Repair and maintain diesel engines, generators, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel systems, and steering systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service according to manufacturer specifications.
- Identify equipment failures, recommend corrective actions, and document findings.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, drawings, and service bulletins.
- Support yacht refit, repower, and modernization projects.
- Conduct sea trials and operational testing to verify repairs and system performance.
- Coordinate parts identification, procurement, and inventory requirements.
- Complete service reports, work orders, time records, and expense documentation accurately and on time.
- Communicate professionally with yacht owners, captains, project managers, and shipyard personnel.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations and company procedures.
- Travel domestically and internationally to support customer vessels and project requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational marine/mechanical training preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in marine service, yacht repair, vessel maintenance, or related marine industry work.
- Experience servicing marine diesel engines, propulsion systems, generators, and associated equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read technical documentation and electrical/mechanical schematics.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
