Position Overview

The Controls Systems Service Technician IV acts as a senior-level technical lead and primary support resource for field technicians. This role performs advanced diagnostics, service, programming, and repair of building automation and integrated control systems in commercial and industrial facilities. The position ensures optimal system performance, efficiency, and compliance with operational and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead advanced controls installation, configuration, programming, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
* Analyze system performance through observation, testing, and calibration in accordance with trade standards.
* Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections per service agreements.
* Utilize hand tools, power tools, meters, gauges, and diagnostic equipment proficiently.
* Execute contracted service work, quoted projects, and on-demand service calls.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships by clearly communicating scope of work and project updates.
* Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to service technicians.
* Coordinate subcontractors and oversee multi-technician service calls.
* Participate in on-call rotation per department guidelines.
* Complete required documentation including commissioning reports, invoicing records, and job costing based on labor and materials used.
* Operate company vehicles safely and comply with all driving and safety policies.
* Maintain service vehicle inventory, tools, and equipment.
* Procure materials and generate purchase orders with approved vendors.
* Utilize controls software platforms to develop and modify system programming, graphics interfaces, databases, and sequence operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate’s degree or technical certification in a related field preferred.
Industry certifications in major building automation platforms such as Niagara AX/N4, Distech, Siemens, or similar are strongly preferred.
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in controls service or building automation.

Technical Expertise Required

Strong understanding of A/C and low-voltage D/C electrical circuits and system operations.
Hands-on experience with one or more building automation platforms such as Siemens, Distech, JCI, Inet, or comparable systems.
Experience with access control and lighting control installation and programming.
Advanced troubleshooting and programming capability in controls environments.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and equipment submittals.
Skilled in the use of testing and metering instruments.
Proficient with Windows-based systems and related software tools.
