Darwin is assisting a well-established ship repair company with its search for a Ship Repair Project Manager in Houston, TX.
The Ship Repair Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and successful execution of multiple engineering and marine-related projects. Reporting to senior leadership, this role ensures that all active projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with organizational standards. The position serves as a key liaison between engineering teams, field personnel, clients, and external partners, while maintaining strong communication, managing resources, and ensuring overall project performance and customer satisfaction.
The organization operates within the marine and offshore sectors, supporting ship repair, modification, engineering, and technical marine systems for industrial clients, with a long-standing commitment to delivering high-quality service, operational excellence, and reliable solutions across complex marine and manufacturing environments.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget requirements
- Develop and manage project cost estimates, proposals, and client quotations
- Coordinate labor allocation across engineering teams and field personnel
- Monitor and control project costs, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of financial data
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates on progress, timelines, and costs
- Conduct regular project meetings with internal teams and field staff to review progress and address issues
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting guidance to field teams as needed
- Ensure all project documentation, including reports, logs, and deliverables, is completed and properly maintained
- Coordinate procurement of materials and equipment, including rentals when required
- Support compliance with safety requirements, including implementation of job safety analyses and operational procedures
Required skill set:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered
- 5-10 years of experience in marine, offshore, or mechanical engineering environments
- Strong understanding of project management principles, including budgeting, scheduling, and cost control
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to prepare and manage cost estimates and financial projections
- Technical knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and related operations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize competing demands effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients and teams
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
