Production Vacuum Test Technician
I’m working with an innovative U.S. space company developing advanced spacecraft propulsion systems. They are looking for multiple Production Vacuum Test Technicians to support the testing and qualification of flight hardware in simulated space environments.
This is a hands-on technical role focused on operating vacuum test facilities, supporting propulsion system testing, and ensuring hardware meets the performance requirements for spaceflight.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor thermal vacuum chambers to create space-like test environments.
- Prepare, execute, and support propulsion system testing, including test setup and teardown.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and vacuum system issues during testing.
- Assemble mechanical and electrical test configurations using engineering drawings and schematics.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of vacuum systems, pumps, instrumentation, and supporting equipment.
- Follow strict safety procedures when working with high-voltage equipment, pressure systems, and hazardous materials.
- Record test data, complete documentation, and maintain accurate test records.
- Collaborate with test engineers, software engineers, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to ensure successful test execution.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on experience working in a test laboratory or with vacuum systems, mechanical assemblies, or high-voltage equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, or vacuum systems.
- Experience supporting or operating vacuum chamber testing.
- Comfortable using diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, pressure gauges, and similar instrumentation.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends to support critical test campaigns.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in a related discipline is advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing spacecraft propulsion or other propulsion systems.
- Familiarity with cleanroom operations, contamination control, and vacuum safety.
- Experience with soldering, wiring, or light fabrication.
- Understanding of pressure systems, cryogenic equipment, or high-voltage safety practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and perform effectively in a fast-paced testing environment.
Compensation
- $40-$50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Comprehensive benefits package and additional performance-based compensation may be available.
Additional Information
- Full-time onsite position in the United States.
- Opportunity to work on advanced spacecraft propulsion hardware supporting future space missions.
