Project focus
Joining a cross-functional product team building and scaling a European technology platform used by millions of people. You’ll design and deliver backend microservices alongside modern frontend applications, working closely with Product, Design, QA and DevOps across the full development lifecycle, with genuine ownership of what you build and run.
Key skills and Experience required
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience across backend and frontend
- Strong commercial Java (ideally Java 17+) and Spring Boot experience, including Spring Data JPA and Spring Security
- Strong commercial React and TypeScript experience, including hooks, functional components, and state management (Redux Toolkit, Context API or Zustand)
- Experience designing and building microservices and distributed systems, with solid RESTful API design skills
- Good understanding of relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimisation
- Experience with event-driven or asynchronous architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS SNS/SQS)
- Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design concepts (bounded contexts, aggregates, domain events)
- Backend and frontend testing experience (JUnit, Mockito, unit/component testing)
- Beneficial: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS), observability tooling (Prometheus/Grafana/Datadog), OpenAPI/Swagger, contract testing, React Native
- Strong communication skills and comfort contributing to technical/architectural decisions in a cross-functional team
