The team structure consists of product owners who report into the Product Manager

As this is a Product Management role, the candidate will not need to possess knowledge of any specific engineering standards. We're expanding the product portfolio into new categories
The scope of the position:

Supports sales and marketing in order for the business unit to successfully sell the products.
Manages a product portfolio of high strategic importance.
Works with product/UX designers on aligning design choices with the product's value proposition.
The candidate will be responsible for defining and executing 1 or 2 hardware products that may also incorporate software features. As such, they will need to become experts in the relevant market(s), understanding the customer needs and ensuring that the right feature sets are specified in order to create successful products that are clearly differentiated from the competition.
The main challenge of this position:
Creating a rational and compelling set of product requirement/features from multiple sources of information/data that differentiate the product from the competition and generate customer delight. These activities may include:
· Creative brainstorming sessions
· Collating existing sales and marketing data
· Commissioning qualitative and quantitative market research studies to validate the above
Understanding the implications of making product decisions when there are potentially conflicting requirements - balancing feature requirements on one hand and the technical feasibility on the other and achieving consensus amongst stakeholders when the decision is controversial.
The main internal stakeholder will be the Consumer BU Managing Director along with the representatives from Operations, Sales, Marketing and Engineering.
The main external stakeholder will be the contract manufacturer and key component suppliers.
The ability to understand specific market and technology factors for the consumer market such as customer segments and their needs, the competitive landscape, product features, relevant technology trends, possible disruptors and supplier technologies.
A passion for consumer electronic products and 'gadgets' in order to understand customer needs, product features, and technological possibilities from a bang-for-buck perspective.
Intellectually capable - combining strong analytical skills with structured thoughts to define problems and propose solutions with reasoned rationale.

Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation and influencing skills, with an excellent command of English. Ability to form a network of effective relationships within the company.
Familiarity of the key component selection process - they know how to read a datasheet to ensure that the high-level product requirements will be met.
Methodical and organized - they're able to define, prioritize and track their own tasks as well as hold accountable the supporting teams that need to deliver into the development program.
Required experience: Ideally extensive experience (5+ years) in Product Management within a consumer business, with experience of hardware product development from 'cradle-to-cradle'.
