Position: In-Space Propulsion Systems Design Engineer
Location: Delft, The Netherlands
Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Systems Design Engineer to join our in-space propulsion team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the complete design and development cycle of in-space propulsion systems. This includes both standard production units and customized solutions. With our current units in space and under development, we are rapidly progressing towards becoming the leading global provider of environmentally friendly chemical propulsion systems.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, define, and manage system requirements.
- Develop system concepts based on high-level requirements.
- Design and analyze green propulsion systems.
- Provide support in assembly, integration, and testing (AIT) activities.
- Assist the commercial and management team with project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Manage interfaces and other aspects of systems engineering.
- Design components for small satellite propulsion systems, covering various domains such as fluidics and electrical systems.
- Prepare documentation, including customer technical reports, qualification and test procedures.
- Contribute to the development of complex monolithic pressure systems for oxidizer and fuel.
Requirements:
- Hold a Master's degree (MSc.) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Possess at least 5 years of experience in designing and developing space systems.
- Familiarity with the spacecraft design standards and quality management.
- Proficient in applying systems engineering methodologies.
- Experience working with MATLAB, Python, or similar tools.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design, preferably SolidWorks.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Adaptable and positive approach to managing evolving project constraints.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to filter information to focus on key aspects.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Knowledge of spacecraft design standards and quality management systems.
- Experience with systems engineering tools in a spacecraft design context.
- Familiarity with lightweight engineering principles.
- Previous manufacturing and production experience.
- Experience working in geographically dispersed teams.
- Proven ability to balance performance, resource utilization, risk, cost, and schedule effectively.
- Strong analytical skills.
